Snorkelling at the Hol-Chan Marine Reserve

The Hol-Chan Marine Reserve is another spectacular snorkeling destination. Hol Chan meaning “little channel” in Mayan, is located approximately 4 miles south from our neighbor San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. This reserve focus on the cut which is a break in the reef; you can snorkel the channel of Hol Chan and capture the large schools of fish including parrotfish, grouper, and snapper as well as Moray eels. Be revisited by the Nurse Sharks and Sting rays, as they hover around at the sound of the boat’s motor for feed. As well as they are use to be fed by the guides and visitors.  Swim around as you please, but don’t drift away to far, we’ll like to keep you for another visit. You can view all the massive corals, fishes, and amazing marine life.

Snorkelling at the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve

Visit the Caye Caulker Marine Reserve; this is located just 1/2 a mile away from the island of Caye Caulker. Our experienced and license tour guides will guide you through the most spectacular areas of the coral gardens, shark ray alley, and the Caye Caulker South Channel.

You will explore the vast corals that huddle and create homes for crabs, eels, fishes, sea urchins and many other sea creatures. After you view just part of the corals, you get to take a little visit to the Nurse Sharks and Sting Rays. These friendly creatures don’t hurt you, they hunch in great amounts as they hear the sound of the motor from the boat. These amazing sea animals have been so accustomed to be fed by the guides and visitors alike. You can even enjoy seeing how your guide lifts up a sting ray on the palms of their hands. Then be free to roam around and view the breaks of waves from the line the barrier reef creates.

Snorkelling at Turneffe Atoll

Visit the Turneffe Atoll; it is one of the three atolls found in Belize and the largest of the trio.

This tour starts at 9 AM and must have a minimum of six passengers in order for it to be confirmed and ready to go.  It is just an hour ride from Caye Caulker and there will be three snorkel stops exploring three unique locations of the Turneffe Atoll; namely, Myrtle Turtle, Vincent Wall and Angel Heaven.

Imagine exploring the shallow waters filled with corals and blooming in variety of marine life or looking down into the deep trenches of the water, spying on the untouched reef flourishing with different classes of reef fishes, rays, sea turtles, lobster and many more.

Spend 45 minutes to an hour at the first snorkel spot before heading to your 2nd location. While snorkelling, you will get a chance to discover some of Belize’s untouched reefs that are thriving with an abundance of sea life.

After the 2nd spot, you will stop by Vicinte Point; a old fishing camp that is settled by local Belizean Fishermen who continue to practice their traditional fishing methods in these remote areas of Belizean waters.  During the visit to Vincent Point, the guides will be preparing lunch at the camp and during this time you will be able to socialize with the fishermen as they share their life experiences about their life on the camp.

Lunch will be spent basking in the warmth of the sun and enjoying a lovely picnic before proceeding on to your last snorkel spot before heading back to Caye Caulker with estimated arrival time of 5 PM

Snorkelling at Blue Hole

Trips to the famous Blue Hole are usually planned every few days so please ask so we can verify what is a confirmed departure day. In order for a trip to be confirmed, 7 to 15 people are needed.

Tour operators kindly ask that divers and snorkelers should be at the office at 4pm on the day before the trip; this is to just to reconfirm the trip and make adjustment if necessary.

This trip offers 3 marvelous dives along with snorkeling during the second interval.

Every guest going on the trip is to be present at the dive center early in the morning because the boat departs from the dock at 6am sharp.

Boat description:

  1. Reef Shark 111: 38ft with twin engines and a cover for shade for minimum numbers of divers.
  2. Seaweed: 43ft with three 200hp Yamaha engines, full cover for most shade and a changing room for use of upwards of 10 divers.

A lovely boat ride from Caye Caulker to the site takes about 1.5 hour or 3 hours depending on weather conditions.

Upon reaching the site, the first dive is specifically at the Blue Hole with level of 135ft/42m; it is classified as a deep dive whereby you’ll see stalactites and reef sharks.

The second dive is at the Half Moon Caye Wall with multilevel of 70ft/21m & 50ft/15m; this dive is dense and colorful coral wall with several swim-through.

The third dive is at the Aquarium at Long Caye Wall with multilevel of 60ft/18m & 40ft/12m; this dive had great quantity and variety of fish to see along with spectacular corals.

Overall, the underwater is rich in wildlife and you as a visitor will be amused with many creatures to be seen such as: large schools of fish, Hawksbill Turtles, Loggerhead Turtles, Eagle Rays, Tarpon, Moray Eels, Lobsters, Crabs, Nurse Sharks, Spotted Drums, Pederson Shrimps, Cleaner Shrimps, Arrowhead Crabs, Channel Crabs, Southern Sting Rays, Squid, French Angelfish.

Also these common corals will greet you to paradise as they showcase species of: Gorgonians, Anemones, Rope, Sponges, Tube Sponges, Barrel Sponges, Encrusting Sponges and the list goes on.

Your level of diving depends on your comfort with depths. Nevertheless, diving centers recommend that you dive with them a day before diving the Blue Hole.  If you are still unsure about the level of diving at the site, we will take care of that problem because we care for every special guest.

Recommendation will be given by experience tour guides in which we consider your safety comes first.

These trips are so unique that divers are also provided with a break to visit Half Moon Caye. It’s a tiny beautiful island whereby you get to discover the Boobie Bird Lookout an use restroom if necessary.

Large schools of dolphins are seen during the return trip as they say, “Goodbye for right now.”

Everyone is schedule to return approximately 4 pm.

In the morning, we offer light breakfast with coffee; In the afternoon homemade Belizean lunch: stewed chicken, rice and beans, coleslaw, fried plantains; fruits, snacks, water and soda.  If you are a vegetarian, please let us know so that we can make arrangement.

You are also being provided with snorkel gears or Scuba gears(BCD, weights, fins, regulators, snorkel and wetsuit).

When it comes to price for snorkelers only, USD$145.00 including USD$40.00 for parking fee.

For divers, it is USD$240.00 including USD$40.00 parking fee which is collected at Half Moon Caye.

Reef Fishing

You can enjoy either a full day or half day of Reef Fishing as it is one of the most exciting activities Caye Caulker and in Belize it is known as one of the best fishing spots. You are able to reel in the catch of the day as you fish for an abundance of different species of fish such as Snappers, Groupers and Barracudas.

This tour takes you first to the northern part of the other half of the island of Caye Caulker where the Sea Grass Beds holds home to an abundance of Sardine’s. The unique thing about this tour is that you and your guide are able to catch Sardine’s the traditional way a local fisherman does it, before starting your fishing tour. This part of the fishing tour is learning experience as well as enjoyable because you are able to view the mangrove ecosystem and do some bird watching in the area. As for the sea grass beds, sometimes you get to see the Beautiful Sea Turtles as well as Rays.

After this get ready for a relaxing day of fishing as you get to fish in all the hot spots that your guide takes you to. Dolphins, Turtles, Fidget Birds and Sea Gulls are mostly seen appearing sometime along the time of your fishing tour.

SCUBA at Blue Hole

Set in a ring of corals, the Blue Whole is a unique and stunning jewel. Made a Natural Monument in 1996 this natural beauty holds home to fascinating marine life. Divers descend into the tranquil waters of this blue hole and discover the giant stalactites, dripstone sheets. The beautiful marine ecosystem is the main feature of this natural monument. Sharks such as the lemon, black tip, nurse, reef, hammerhead and bull sharks can be seen in this unique location.

SCUBA at Turneffe North & South

You will discover the beauty of these waters as you dive the waters of these two Turneffe Areas. This dive is famous for the marine life it holds as many different creatures live in this area. Large schools of fishes such as the snappers can be seen around when diving. Reef sharks are popular in this area as well as sea turtles. Turneffe is a stunning ocean jewel that divers can enjoy because of the beautiful coral gardens that are home to smaller species such as crabs, eels, lobsters and even sting rays.

The Caye Caulker Marine Reserve Dive in unique in that you are able to dive the Beautiful Coral Canons and Pillar corals that is home to some of the most amazing marine species and gives way to the deep blue waters that is found beyond the reef. Diving in this blue environment is an experience that is breathe taking as this marine environment provides immense marine life to see and enjoy. It is about 18-20 meters in depth and it also provides you with a surface break inside the reef where you can enjoy snorkeling and come across sting rays and nurse sharks.

SCUBA at Hol Chan Marine Park

Diving at the Hol-Chan Marine Park is an extraordinary experience as the environment and species change from shallow waters to the deep blue found beyond the Barrier Reef. When diving you are able to discover a different world under sea when viewing the tall canons and colorful pillar corals found in the immense waters just beyond the barrier reef. The water is about 18-20 meters in depth. You get the view of the inside reef as well as you take a break from diving the deep waters and come over to shallow water area where you are able to snorkel around the miniature corals and reef.

SCUBA at Esmeralda

Located on the northern side of San Pedro, Esmeralda is a beautiful experience for many first time divers as they get the full package when it comes to the abundance of marine life. It boasts the formation of coral canons and a tunnel called the Cypress Tunnel. Some of the species that is home to Esmeralda are Eels, Groupers, lots of yellow tail Snappers, and nursing sharks. Sometimes divers get a nice view of the sea turtles that come around very often. This dive is about 18- 20 meters in depth and is about 1 mile directly in front of San Pedro.

Cave Tubing & Xunantunich Maya Site

Xunantunich (stone woman) is located in San Succotz village, crossing through the Mopan River in a fiery. This prestigious Ruin consists of 6 different plaza’s and “El Castillo” (The Castle) which is 130 meters high overlooking the Mopan river and Cayo District.
